Chief editorial writer Russell Cooke, a veteran member of The Inquirer Editorial Board, comments on a wide range of topics for which he has received a number of regional and statewide journalism awards.

Prior to joining the Editorial Board, Cooke was a reporter in The Inquirer’s City Hall bureau. His work there, in addition to reporting for the paper’s neighborhoods team, afforded him extensive knowledge of city government and civic issues. Cooke also did an overseas reporting stint for The Inquirer during the Falklands War. He holds a degree in English and also studied international politics at the London School of Economics.

Cooke’s recent commentary on the Say What? blog has included postings on a teacher-student affair, a controversial environmental proposal from Brazil, and the beating death of a Phillies fan outside Citizens Bank ballpark.
